Mob Burns Three Park Touts in Abuja After Fatal Accident Claims Couple and Their Son

Tension gripped the Mabushi area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Wednesday after an angry mob set three suspected touts, locally called agbero and linked to the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), ablaze for allegedly causing the deaths of a man, his wife, and their son.

Reports indicate the tragedy occurred when the touts allegedly grabbed the steering wheel of the family’s vehicle in an attempt to extort money, causing the car to crash on the Mabushi Bridge. The couple and their child reportedly died instantly.

A video obtained by SaharaReporters showed the three suspects lying on the ground before an unidentified person poured petrol on them and set them on fire.

In the footage, a voice could be heard appealing to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to step in and ban AMAC touts from operating in Abuja, citing frequent cases of harassment and violence.

The eyewitness said, “This is what Amac agberos have caused here in Abuja. They are causing a lot of harm. It’s high time we did something about it. Seriously. Both families died because of agbero. Imagine, they chased this man, entered his car, and dragged the steering from his hand. The man died, his wife died, and his son died.

“The FCT Minister needs to take action. Amac agberos must leave Abuja.”

Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, the FCT Police Command authorities have yet to release an official statement on the killings or the mob action.
