Trump Applauds William and Charles at State Banquet, Notably Omits Prince Harry
During his Windsor Castle state banquet speech on his UK visit, Donald Trump appeared to take a subtle swipe at Prince Harry.
The US president lavished praise on King Charles III and Prince William, calling the Prince of Wales a “remarkable son” and “really amazing.” He also described Princess Catherine as “so radiant and so healthy, so beautiful.”
Conspicuously absent, however, was any mention of Harry despite his global acclaim for founding the Invictus Games for wounded veterans. Instead, Trump spotlighted Charles’ efforts with injured servicemen, saying the King had “tended to wounded veterans like nobody else.”
The omission comes after years of Trump publicly criticising Harry and Meghan Markle. At different times, he has accused them of being “disrespectful” to the late Queen, called Meghan “terrible,” and said Harry “betrayed” his family.
Harry and Meghan remain in California, away from the Trumps’ UK visit. The Duke was in Britain last week for charity work before making a trip to Ukraine.
Trump, however, kept his spotlight firmly on Charles and William as he spoke of the “priceless and eternal” bond between the US and the UK.
