Troops repel gunmen attack in Taraba, recover arms and ammunition

Troops of the 93 Battalion, Nigerian Army, have successfully repelled an attack by unidentified gunmen on Majebiyu Village in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, when the assailants stormed the community, shooting sporadically and seizing motorcycles from residents.

Responding swiftly, the troops—working in collaboration with local vigilantes—mobilized to the scene and engaged the gunmen in a brief firefight.

Overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower, the attackers retreated into a nearby bush, reportedly with gunshot injuries.

No casualties were recorded among the troops, while the number of losses on the side of the attackers remains uncertain.

Items recovered from the scene included five locally-made guns and two motorcycles reportedly stolen from villagers.
