Police arrest UNIJOS student for allegedly k!lling and burying colleague in shallow grave inside his room
The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old student of the University of Jos for allegedly k!lling and burying his colleague in a shallow grave inside his room at Rusau village, Jos North Local Government Area.
Sources confirmed the incident to security analyst Zagazola Makama on Sunday in Jos, citing information from the university’s Chief Security Officer.
The suspect, identified as David Nanpon Timmap, a 300-level student of the institution, allegedly attacked and matcheted 22-year-old Peter Mata Mafurai (pictured) to d3ath in his residence.
Police said they received a distress call around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, prompting the Divisional Police Officer of Laranto Division to lead a team of officers to the scene, where the suspect was apprehended.
Investigations revealed that the suspect buried the deceased in a shallow grave he dug inside his room.
The remains of the victim were exhumed and deposited at Bingham University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The suspect is in custody while an investigation is ongoing to ascertain the motive behind the k!lling.
