Police Arrest Two Women for Child Theft in Abia Church, Rescue Victims
The Abia State Police Command has arrested two women, Louis Osueke, 58, and Esther Jude, 42, for allegedly stealing children from a church in Okpuumuobo, Aba.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Umuahia on Friday, September 19, 2025.
He confirmed that the victims — a 6-year-old girl, Chidinma Uzochukwu, and a 10-month-old baby were safely rescued from the suspects and reunited with their family.
“On September 17, 2025, at about 1845 hours, leveraging on credible intelligence, officers from Abia state Police Command conducted a successful operation, leading to the arrest of Lois Osueke “female” 58 years old, a native of Umuohia Village, Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Imo State and Esther Jude “female” 42 years old, a native of Umuimeka Village, Owerri West LGA, Imo State, in connection with a case of child stealing that occurred on September 7, 2025, at Anglican Church, Okpuumuobo, Aba, Abia State,” the Commissioner stated.
“Two children namely; Chidinma Uzochukwu “female” 6 yrs old, and a ten-month-old baby were safely rescued from the suspects. Investigation is ongoing.”
