Plane owned by Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil involved in crash at Arizona airport
A plane owned by Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil was involved in a fatal accident at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday afternoon, officials reported.
According to the Scottsdale Fire Department, a Learjet 35A crashed into a parked Gulfstream 200 business jet after landing, resulting in one fatality. Capt. Dave Folio confirmed the death and stated that four others were injured, including two in critical condition.
During an evening briefing, Scottsdale Airport spokesperson Kelli Kuester explained that the Learjet had arrived from Austin, Texas when its left main landing gear appeared to fail, causing it to veer off the runway and collide with the stationary jet.
Records reviewed by The Arizona Republic indicate that the aircraft is registered to Chromed in Hollywood, Inc., a Wyoming-based company, with Neil listed as the owner. However, Neil’s legal representative, Worrick Robinson, confirmed to USA TODAY that he was not aboard the flight.
A statement from Robinson detailed that the plane, carrying two pilots and two passengers, lost control for reasons yet unknown, leading to the collision. “Mr. Neil was not on the plane,” the statement emphasized. It also conveyed Neil’s condolences and gratitude toward first responders.
The band’s manager, Allen Kovac, told TMZ that Neil’s girlfriend, Rain, and a friend were among the passengers and were hospitalized following the crash.
Emergency crews responded swiftly, with the Scottsdale Fire Department deploying multiple trucks to the scene. One individual had to be extricated from the wreckage. The accident temporarily closed the runway, and the National Transportation Safety Board has taken over the investigation.
The last fatal crash at Scottsdale Airport occurred in 2018, when a plane carrying a pilot, a student pilot, and four passengers crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in six deaths.
