Gunmen k!ll village head and one other in Plateau attack
Gunmen have reportedly k!lled the village head of Gyel District, Dara Pam Choji, and one other man during an attack on Darong community in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, when unidentified assailants stormed the community and opened fire indiscriminately.
Both victims sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital by police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division, Bukuru, following a distress call.
Authorities say investigations have commenced to track down the perpetrators and restore calm to the area.
Unfortunately, the victims were confirmed d3ad on arrival by the doctor on duty.
A youth leader in the community and President of Berom Youths Moulders Association, Solomon Dalyop, who confirmed the attack in a statement on Wednesday said the attack followed an early warning of planned raids on villages.
“In another turn of events, at about 7:50 pm on 21st October, 2025, bandits suspected to be armed Fulani attacked and shot d3ad two people, among whom is Mr Pam Choji, and one was injured at Daron village of Gyel District in Jos South LGA,” he stated.
“The bandits just opened fire on the community. That attack followed an early warning of planned attacks on villages of Gyel and neighbouring settlements.”
Meanwhile, reinforcement comprising army troops, police personnel had been deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident.
“Yes, we are aware of the incident. We have just finished our monthly press briefing, and we are moving to the community right now,” he added.
