Troops repel terrorist infiltration attempt in Borno community, k!ll key fighter
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled and inflicted heavy losses on terrorists from the Mandara Mountains during an early-morning attempt to infiltrate Bitta community in Borno State.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, when troops monitoring the area through surveillance systems detected the movement of insurgents advancing toward the community.
Security sources said the troops tactically allowed the terrorists to move into a designated engagement zone before launching coordinated defensive fire, neutralising several of the attackers, including a senior fighter and his cameraman.
The sources added that follow-up precision strikes were later carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, further disrupting and dispersing the fleeing insurgents.
Items recovered from the scene included a camcorder, AK-47 rifles, bandoliers, hand-held radios, PKT machine guns, several belts of PKT and GPMG-linked ammunition, as well as motorcycles and bicycles.
During exploitation of the area, troops reportedly traced several blood trails and discovered shallow graves, indicating additional casualties inflicted on the terrorists during the encounter.
