Sixteen Rescued After Gunmen Abduct Passengers on Benin Expressway

Sixteen passengers abducted from a commercial bus along the Benin–Iyere Agbanikaka Oluku Road in Edo State on Friday, September 5, have been rescued.

The development was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, CSP Moses Joel Yamu.

A video shared on social media earlier today showed other commuters on the highway shortly after the abduction, which reportedly took place around 4:30 p.m.

Reacting via his X handle, Yamu wrote;

‘’Sixteen of the victims have been rescued so far, as search and rescue operation by @EdoPoliceNG continue”
