Mentally ill woman beats female IDP to d£ath in Borno
The Borno State Police Command has arrested a mentally unstable woman for allegedly beating a fellow internally displaced person (IDP) to d£ath in Monguno Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the incident occurred on October 10, 2025, around 4:35 p.m., when one Modu Kolomi of RRR IDP Camp reported that a woman identified as Yagana Zara, 40, from the Water Board IDP Camp, attacked his wife, Yagana Abba Butu, 30, with a wooden stirrer.
The suspect, who is believed to be mentally challenged, allegedly inflicted severe injuries on the victim, leading to her d£ath.
Security personnel in Monguno swiftly intervened, rescuing the suspect from mob retaliation and transporting the victim to the General Hospital, Monguno, where she was pronounced d£ad on arrival.
According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the body was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy and later released to the family for burial according to Islamic rites.
According to sources, the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Maiduguri, has commenced investigation, while the suspect has been taken to a state psychiatric facility for mental evaluation.
