Man nabbed over alleged same-s3x relationship in Benue

A yet-to-be-identified man was on Tuesday detained by a group of youths in Gboko, Benue State, over allegations that he was involved in a same-sex relationship.

A video circulating on social media shows the man being accused of travelling from Lagos to Gboko to meet someone he had reportedly been communicating with online.

The incident has stirred debate within the community, with some residents cautioning the youths against resorting to mob action or public shaming.

Activist Zege Orkwande, who posted the video, urged the youths to hand the man over to the police for proper investigation.

“So, this our Benue brother was apprehended in Gboko by angry youths. He’s suspected of HO MO SEXU ALITY. According to the video, he came all the way from Lagos to Gboko to visit another man. How can a man chat with another man, exchanged things and things to point of visiting him to enjoy things When I talk of high rate of homo in Benue, people take it personal. Just recently, homo video of man (Natasha) was all over the Internet. You see them dressing like women and people tag it as dressing for content creation…not knowing that things are going down. Parents, keep eyes on your male child. Activist Zege Gboko boys should do whats right (you understand) and hand him over to police,” he wrote.
