Chinese expatriate kidnapped after m8rder of 8 NSCDC personnel in Edo, regains freedom

A Chinese expatriate who was abducted in an attack that left eight personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) dead in Edo State has regained his freedom.

The victim, identified as Mr. Wang, was kidnapped on September 5 during an assault on NSCDC operatives assigned to safeguard Chinese workers at the BUA Cement Plant in Okpella.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that Mr. Wang was released around 11:30 p.m. on December 2 in Kabba, Kogi State.

Sources said that the expatriate left Nigeria immediately after regaining his freedom and has since returned to China.

Details on whether ransom was paid or how negotiations were conducted were not disclosed.
