Two arrested for stealing 600 litres of diesel from telecom mast in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two men for allegedly stealing 600 litres of diesel meant to power an MTN telecommunications mast at Sabon Kasuwa–Railway in Bauchi Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Saturday, November 15, 2025, the command’s spokesperson, ASC Saminu Yusuf, identified the suspects as 20-year-old Abdulrahman Jibrin and 31-year-old Munarak Halilu. Both men allegedly admitted to stealing diesel from the site for the past year.

“On 12th November 2025, at Sabon Kasuwa Railway, Bauchi LGA, NSCDC officers on surveillance patrol apprehended Abdulrahman Jibrin and Munarak Halilu for stealing AGO used to power the MTN mast generator,” the statement read.

Yusuf added that a preliminary investigation confirmed the suspects’ confession and noted that they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Commandant oloyede Nelson Oyerinde while addressing the gentlemen of the press, commends his personnel for their commitment to safeguarding public infrastructures.
“He reiterated that the corps resolved to get rid of crimes and vandalism and also warned perpetrators to desist from such acts or face legal consequences.”
