Torrential Rainfall Washes Away Bridge in Kano
A torrential downpour in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State has washed away the Yaryasa Bridge, severing a key link between Kano and neighbouring states.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, urged commuters to avoid the route and instead use alternative roads to ensure their safety and protect their property.
He added that officers from the Motor Traffic Division (MTD), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), and members of the Transport Union have been deployed to manage traffic flow. The damaged section has also been cordoned off to prevent vehicles from entering the danger zone.
The bridge served as a critical link between Kano State and other states, including Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, and the eastern part of the country.
