Three Suspects Arrested Over Killing of Furniture Maker in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the brutal k!lling of a 41-year-old furniture maker, Aruna Imuekheme, in Benin City.
Police spokesperson CSP Moses Yamu disclosed that a manhunt has been launched for the other suspects still at large.
Imuekheme was reportedly attacked by a group of 11 hoodlums at his workshop along Old Ahor Road, Eyean, in Uhunmwode Local Government Area.
The incident allegedly stemmed from a dispute with a client who returned six months after a completed upholstery job, complaining that the materials had compressed.
According to police, the deceased explained that the agreement was only to re-cover the chairs with fabric, not to replace the foam — a clarification that initially ended the argument before the client left.
“However, on Saturday, the client returned with 10 other men while the furniture maker was away,” the PPRO said.
“The men reportedly attempted to steal his tools and other items, but were resisted by his apprentices and nearby residents.
“When the deceased was alerted, he rushed back to his workshop to resolve the issue. ‘’The hoodlums then attacked him with dangerous weapons, beating him to death.”
The police spokesman said he was rushed to several hospitals, but was reportedly rejected before being confirmed dead on arrival at the Edo Specialist Hospital.
