Teenage boy arrested for allegedly r@ping 13-year-old female student at Rivers football academy
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 17-year-old boy for alleged s3xual assault of a 13-year-old JSS 2 female student of the Real Madrid Football Academy in Elekahia, Port Harcourt.
The suspect was handed over to the police by the Rivers State Commissioner of Sports, Hon. Christopher Green.
The handover followed a meeting convened by the commissioner, which included the alleged victim, the suspect, their parents, and the school management.
According to Uche Sampson, the elder brother of the victim, the incident occurred on October 22, 2025.
He explained that the suspect allegedly attacked the girl while she was collecting her clothes from outside her hostel room.
During the encounter, the suspect was said to have struck her on the back, leading to a struggle in which he reportedly overpowered and s3xually assaulted her.
After the meeting, the suspect was handed over to the Elekahia Police Division for a thorough investigation and potential prosecution.
The alleged victim’s family expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of Sports for his swift intervention.
“He handled the situation in a way a father would handle issues like this. He was so concerned. He showed so much care,” said Mr Sampson.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed that the Elekahia Police Division is investigating the incident.
