“Nigerian Police Arrest Suspected Cultist and Drug Peddler, Recover Firearms in Anambra”
The Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected cultist and drug peddler, along with the recovery of firearms and drugs.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Saturday that the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Ebuka Ubadigbo, was apprehended on August 28 at Nkpor-Umuoji Road, near a construction site in Idemili North Local Government Area. The operation was carried out by operatives of the Special Anti-Cult Squad (SPACS), Enugwu Ukwu.
Ikenga noted that the arrest was part of the Command’s sustained efforts to curb cultism, drug trafficking, and illegal possession of firearms across the state.
During the operation, police recovered two pump-action rifles, two live cartridges, and a large quantity of substances suspected to be hard drugs from the suspect.
During preliminary interrogation, Ikenga said the suspect confessed to involvement in drug peddling, adding that further investigations are ongoing to “identify his accomplices and trace the source of the recovered firearms.”
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” said the Police spokesman.
