Man Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Girlfriend’s 3-Year-Old Son

Free State police have arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly s3xually assaulting his girlfriend’s three-year-old son at a farm in Ficksburg last Friday.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the incident occurred after the 24-year-old mother left her son in the care of her boyfriend while she attended a funeral at a nearby farm. When she returned, the child was in tears and reported that the boyfriend had assaulted him.

“The mother immediately alerted the police, and the child was taken to hospital for medical examination. The suspect was subsequently arrested,” said Mophiring.

The man is expected to appear in the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday to face a charge of r@pe.
