California-based virtual healthcare provider HealthTap announced it is now an in-network provider with many major insurance plans, traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage.
HealthTap provides virtual primary care through the web and health apps, including mental health, urgent care, sexual health and wellness and lifestyle services.
Consumers can review a doctor’s bio and credentials, watch video interviews to designate their preferred doctor, and then schedule an appointment to see the provider.
“Today is a huge step forward for achieving our mission to place a quality primary care doctor at everyone’s fingertips – no matter where they live or how they pay for their care,” HealthTap CEO and cofounder Sean Mehra said in a statement.
“Every American deserves access to comprehensive, compassionate healthcare that is integrated and relationship-driven. By adding an insurance payment option to our industry-leading patient experience, we’re expanding access to high-quality care at affordable rates.”
THE LARGER TREND
In 2022, HealthTap partnered with multinational electronics company Samsung to bring virtual healthcare to Samsung smart TVs in the U.S.
Last year, the virtual care company launched an updated version of its pre-appointment patient interview experience dubbed Dr.A.I. The newest iteration of the conversational AI tool is powered by GPT-4.
The company also announced a partnership with Health Gorilla, a health information network and interoperability provider. This partnership would allow HealthTap providers to access patients’ medical records from any organization within Health Gorilla’s Qualified Health Information Network.
