Doctor Who Collapsed After 72-Hour Shift Laid to Rest in Port Harcourt
The remains of Dr. Oluwafemi Rotifa, a 28-year-old resident doctor at Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), who reportedly collapsed and died after a 72-hour stretch without rest last week, have been laid to rest.
He was buried on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Port Harcourt cemetery.
Dr. Rotifa, a former president of the Port Harcourt University Medical Students’ Association (PUMSA), has been mourned widely, with his death sparking grief and outrage across Nigeria’s health sector.
The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has announced plans to conduct an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
