Decomposing body of Lagos commercial motorcyclist found in Ogun forest a week after he went missing
The decomposing body of a Badagry commercial motorcyclist, Afesomu Amos, was discovered in a bush at Obakobe, Ado-Odo, Ogun State, seven days after he went missing.
According to police reports, the body of the father of six and resident of Vetho-Ajara, Badagry, was found on Thursday, October 30, 2025, following a coordinated investigation by the police.
Amos was last seen alive on Friday, October 24, when he left home for work.
His wife recalled that he mentioned taking a passenger from Erekiti to Ado-Odo.
Their last conversation was around 7:30 p.m., when he told her he was on his way back home. But by 8:00 p.m., his phone went off, and he never returned.
Worried, his family began searching frantically the next day. His younger brother, Afesomu Samuel, reported the case to the police.
“On that Saturday, I was told my brother was missing. I immediately went to the police station to report it. Shortly after, the police called to ask for details about Amos’s motorcycle,” he explained.
Days later, Samuel was invited to the station, where he identified his brother’s motorcycle and three suspects who had been caught allegedly trying to sell it. The suspects claimed they got the bike from someone known as “Banga.”
The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Ikeja, where the investigation intensified.
A team of detectives traced and arrested an elderly man in Ajara, Badagry, recovering a mobile phone connected to the case.
By Thursday, the main suspect, Banga, was arrested in the Makoko area of Lagos, raising the family’s hopes that Amos might still be alive. But that hope was crushed the following day when Samuel received a devastating call.
“I was told my brother’s body had been found somewhere around Ikogale in Ogun State,” he said in tears. When he got there, the sight was horrifying. Amos’s body had been cut into pieces, with his arms, eyes, and private parts missing.
Samuel commended the police, especially the Badagry division, for their swift action but pleaded for more support to bring his brother’s k!llers to justice.
“My brother cannot die like this without justice. We have no one to fight for us. We are begging the authorities and the public to help us ensure those behind this evil act pay for it,” he added.
