Bandits kill four, abduct pastor and 11 others in Kaduna attack
Suspected bandits have killed four people in Gidan Waya and Jansauni communities under Yarkasuwa Ward, Kurama Chiefdom, in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attackers, who stormed the area on Tuesday night, November 11, 2025, also abducted 12 persons, including an ECWA pastor, Rev. Istifanus Dungu.
The National PRO of the Akurmi Development Association (AKURDA), Pius Kyauta Agaji, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday.
“The Akurmi Development Association (AKURDA) woke up to the disheartening news of bandits/kidnappers ravaging one of our communities, Gidan Waya in Yarkasuwa, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State,” the statement read.
“The attackers struck on the night of 11th November, 2025, k!lling four (4) people and abducting twelve (12) people – men, women, and children.
“Those who were shot to death include: Promise Korau, 18, Hycent Timothy, 19, Mato Shagori, 40, and Markus Ishaya.
“Those who were kidnapped are: Habibu Yahaya, 42, Love Markus, 38, Mummy Markus, 49, 4. Catherine Shitu, 40, Ibrahim Bagobari, 46, John Ibrahim, 15, Rev Istifanus Dungu, 58, Christiana Dungu, 14, Prince Dungu, 13, Miss Dauda, Mrs Rev Danbala Inuwa, 38.
“AKURDA strongly condemns this brutal attack and kidnapping of our people who were in their night sleep.
“We therefore call on: – The Lere Local Government Chairman – Security agencies – Our Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani to come to our rescue, bring all perpetrators to book, and deploy security personnel around Gidan Waya community. We also urge our people to remain vigilant.
“May the souls of those killed rest in peace, and we pray for the safe return of the abducted. We demand justice!”
