Anambra declares Friday public holiday ahead of Governorship Election

Anambra declares Friday public holiday ahead of Governorship Election

The Anambra State Government has declared Friday, November 7, 2025, a work-free day for all civil servants in the state.

The directive, which takes immediate effect, is aimed at allowing workers to prepare for the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday, November 6, by the Head of Service, Mrs. Theodora Igwegbe.

According to her, the decision, approved by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, is to enable civil servants to travel to their respective localities and participate fully in the election.

Mrs. Igwegbe emphasized that this action is designed to encourage the active participation of the state’s workforce in the electoral process, describing voting as a vital civic duty and an essential contribution to good governance and democracy.

In conclusion, the Head of Service directed all political appointees, permanent secretaries, and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies to properly inform their staff and ensure complete compliance with this directive.
