US Warns Corrupt Nigerian Politicians of Possible Visa Ban

The United States has once again warned Nigerian politicians and elites engaging in corruption, stating that its visa restrictions will apply even to the most “high-profile” individuals.

In a circular shared on its official X handle today, September 22, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria emphasized that corrupt practices come with international consequences that cannot be concealed by political power or influence within the country.

The statement, posted with the hashtag #VisaWiseTravelSmart, read:

“Did You Know Even when high-profile individuals engage in corruption, they can be barred from receiving #USVisas. FIGHTING CORRUPTION KNOWS NO BORDERS or limits on accountability.”
