Man St@bs Grandparents to D3ath in Kano Over Food Dispute
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Mutawakilu Ibrahim, for allegedly m8rdering his grandparents during a dispute over food at Kofar Dawanau Quarters.
In a statement on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said Ibrahim reportedly attacked the elderly couple with a knife during the argument.
The victims 75-year-old Muhammad Dansokoto and 65-year-old Hadiza Tasidi were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors on duty confirmed them d3ad.
Kiyawa added that the suspect, believed to have been under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the incident, has been taken into custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
“The Kano State Police Command wishes to inform the public of a tragic case of culpable homicide reported at Dala Divisional Police Headquarters, Kano. On September 25, 2025, at about 09:30am, a resident of Kofar Dawanau Quarters reported that one Mutawakilu Ibrahim (m), aged 30, had a quarrel with his grandparents, Muhammad Dansokoto (m), aged 75, and Hadiza Tasidi (f), aged 65, over a food-related disagreement,” the statement read.
“During the altercation, the suspect allegedly used a knife to stab both victims in various parts of their bodies, causing severe injuries.
“The victims were immediately rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano, where they were confirmed d3ad by medical personnel. Their corpses were examined and later released to their relatives for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
“The alleged culprit, suspected to be under the influence of intoxicants has been arrested, and based on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori PhD sfipma mnim mnips, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section for discreet investigation.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.”
