Lagos Police arrest security guard for abducting employer’s 2-year-old daughter

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a security guard, identified as Amos Kini, in connection with the abduction of a two-year-old boy in the Elemoro area.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, September 29, 2025 said the case was reported by child’s mother last week.

“The Lagos State Police Command has successfully apprehended one Amos Kini, male, a security guard, in connection with the abduction of a 2-year-old child in the Elemoro area of Lagos,” the statement read.

“The incident occurred on 21st September, 2025, at about 2350hrs, when the mother of the child reported at Elemoro Division that her security guard had absconded with her son and mobile phone to an unknown location without her consent.

“The suspect later used the stolen phone to contact the father of the child, demanding a ransom of Five Million Naira (N5,000,000.00) for his release. Upon receipt of the report, operatives from Elemoro Division immediately initiated a swift response.

“The scene was promptly visited and documented, one Aruna Dauda (male), who stood as guarantor for the suspect before his employment, was taken in for questioning.

“As efforts to locate the suspect intensified, the police sustained operational pressure through intelligence gathering and coordinated surveillance. This ultimately forced the suspect to release the child.

“However, the operatives continued their manhunt, determined to bring the perpetrator to justice. On 23rd September, 2025, at about 1400hrs, operatives of the Tactical Squad (Hyena), acting on credible intelligence, successfully tracked and arrested Amos Kini at his hideout within the Elemoro area.

“The suspect has since confessed to the crime and remains in police custody. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, strongly condemned the abduction of the innocent child, reaffirming the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating all forms of violent and capital crimes in the state.

“He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant, and advised members of the public to report any suspicious activities to the Police any of our emergency numbers 08063299264, 09053872208, 08087332678.”
