FG secures release of 100 schoolchildren abducted in Niger State

The Federal Government has secured the release of 100 pupils abducted from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State.

Channels Television confirmed the development on Sunday, December 7, 2025, though an official government statement had not been issued as of press time.

Suspected terrorists had attacked the school on November 21, 2025, abducting 303 pupils, students, and staff.

Around 50 pupils escaped within the first 24 hours and were reunited with their families.

With the latest release of 100 pupils, 153 children and 12 teachers remain in captivity.
