A popular traditional singer from Bauchi State has reportedly d!ed after allegedly being poisoned.
A traditional singer, John Zuya, popularly known as John Mai Molo, has reportedly d!ed following a suspected poisoning incident in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The late entertainer, celebrated for his humorous performances and traditional songs, had just returned from Lagos on October 16, where he recently performed, before the tragic incident occurred.
Reports indicate that Zuya suddenly became ill and collapsed after allegedly eating poisoned food.
Confirming the incident in a Facebook post, fellow singer and close associate, Emma Wakili, said Zuya passed away early Saturday morning, October 18, 2025.
“It is confirmed that John Zuya passed on this morning at 7:00 a.m. His body has been deposited in the mortuary as investigations continue,” Wakili stated.
Witnesses said the late singer was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where doctors confirmed him d3ad.
His body has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for an autopsy to ascertain the actual cause of d3ath.
Meanwhile, fans and cultural enthusiasts have flooded social media with tributes, mourning the death of the singer and demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his d3ath.
